Mold Illness Functional Medicine Consulting

I am taking new clients for functional medicine coaching by application. There is often a waiting list, but I will reach out to you as soon as I can after receiving your application to let you know if I think I can help you and when I think we could have our first meeting. If you’d like to get on my list to explore working with me one-on-one, please fill out the application form below.

Even if there is a wait to work with me one-on-one, I highly recommend starting my FREE nervous system program for those with chronic illness. I recommend nervous system work to all of my clients struggling with recovering from mold illness. Why? Because full recovery cannot occur if your nervous system isn’t regulated. When you’re stuck in fight, flight, or freeze most of the time whether due to stress patterns, the trauma of navigating mold illness, or mycotoxins themselves, your body won’t detox effectively, your immune system will struggle to fight fungal & other chronic infections, your body won’t have enough energy for healing and repair, and you won’t be able to reverse the allergies, sensitivities, mast cell activation syndrome, or autoimmunity you may have acquired. For all of those things to happen, your brain must convey to your body that you are SAFE. Eliminating exposure to mycotoxins is also vital for that safety signaling, but you can improve the state of your nervous system dramatically, and begin to heal, even WHILE you’re still being exposed. Join the FREE chronic illness nervous system starter program here.

I look forward to supporting you in your healing and transformation!

My Story with Mold Illness

Looking back, it’s obvious that my health issues from mold began as a child when my play room flooded multiple times. Luckily, when I stopped playing there, the health issues went away….until I moved into my college dorm room, when my health took an even bigger nose dive.

About the time my husband and I met is when I discovered that my decade-long chronic illness was probably based in chronic, high level mycotoxin exposure and nervous system dysregulation combined.  Up until that point, all I knew was that I had a bunch of active chronic infections, chronic fatigue, chronic insomnia, histamine issues, really low hormones across the board, and a bunch of sensitivities to food, chemicals, light, sound, and EMFs.   All of these health issues I was only able to “manage” but not really heal, until I figured out the mold and nervous system bits.  Eventually, I became a specialist in treating other patients like me dealing with all of these issues, including mold and nervous system issues.   And I healed most of the way.

I wish I could say that my run-ins with toxic mold ended there, but I unfortunately had another big exposure in our home. I’ve now mostly recovered again and we’re in the process of building a mold-resistant home for ourselves, and sharing about it on Youtube to help others that want to follow in our footsteps. I also help people all over the country navigate the path to healing from toxic mold exposure.

My Approach to Healing from Toxic Mold

I’ve been around the block with mold, having tested a huge array of approaches to healing on myself and with my patients. I’ve found many approaches that are much more hype than healing. I’ve also found other things to be surprisingly critical to wellbeing when I didn’t expect them to be. That’s why I don’t subscribe to every health fad. I align myself with what truly works, not what sounds good on paper.

I believe in supporting the body to heal using its own healing mechanisms whenever possible. What that means for mold illness recovery is supporting the body’s innate detox, immune, and tissue healing mechanisms through optimizing nervous system regulation, nutrition, movement, hydration, sleep, ensuring proper bile flow and bowel movements, and sweating as the foundations REQUIRED for healing.

The other foundational piece for healing from mold illness is eliminating significant mycotoxin exposures, and I help people navigate this challenge as well. While there is a lot I can do to support you body and help you feel somewhat better while you’re still suffering from daily toxic mold exposure, in my personal and professional experience, true healing cannot occur until the high level, chronic exposure stops.

Beyond these foundational requirements for healing, I add additional support where tolerated or needed based on each person’s unique mycotoxin & fungal infection burden, and downstream health issues (including other chronic infections, digestive symptoms, nervous system symptoms, immune imbalances like mast cell activation syndrome, allergies, and sensitivities, hormonal imbalances, mitochondrial dysfunction, tissue damage, and more).

I approach every client as a unique individual. What worked for one person may not work for you, and that’s not only ok, it’s normal! If something doesn’t work for whatever reason I’m very flexible in helping someone find an approach that DOES work for them. I DO NOT believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, because frankly it doesn’t work, and when it comes to recovering from mold illness, it can make many people worse.

The other most important principle to me when guiding someone’s healing journey is to “First Do No Harm”. I shy away from riskier, invasive, and expensive treatment approaches whenever possible. I do use “bandaid” treatments to help people function as they heal, but I am always addressing the root cause at the same time so bandaids won’t be necessary long-term.
