Low Blue Light Bulb
I am a HUGE fan of avoiding blue light exposure at night. The studies support that blue light exposure after dark suppresses melatonin production, so you’re likely to have sleep trouble. Normal LED lightbulbs you have in your house and all devices with screens (TV, cellphone, tablet, computer) emit a substantial amount of blue light, enough to suppress melatonin and disturb sleep.
I use a no-blue light after dark policy, and it has REALLY helped my sleep, but if that’s too intense for you, I would at least avoid blue light after 8pm.
A no-blue light strategy usually requires that you have some blue-light free lights to use after dark and some blue-light blocking glasses in case a normal light needs to get turned on or you’re getting blue-light exposure from a device.
This bulb is not blue-light free, but it is low in blue light. That means, it would appropriate lighting for the evening time before dark, when you want to send the message to your brain that night is coming soon, and it’s safe to start winding down. I think it’s a good idea to have a lamp with one of these bulbs in the kitchen and living room to use only in the evenings.
I love it because it’s actually been tested, and there is minimal blue in the spectrum of light emitted. It’s bright enough that you will still be able to see the room really well with the lamp turned on. And the bulbs last a long time.
